weekend in a nutshell

it seems i cannot get my act together enough to post on the weekends anymore. but, in my defense i have been busier than usual...

last thursday we visited the hospital where i spent my 8 weeks on bedrest and the peaches spent their 38, 41 & 45 days in the nicu. we were able to catch up with the wonderful people from child life who included us in the calendar for the children's hospital and gifted us with an enormous print from the photo shoot. they haven't seen the babies since they came home, so it was wonderful to visit with them. the peaches wreaked havoc on their office though :)

then we visited the floor i stayed on and saw quite a few of the nurses who cared for me during my stay. finally we headed to the nicu and by complete chance their primary nurse was there (she came in for just a brief time to help feed one of the babies and we happened to catch her while she was there!) as were a couple of our other favorite nurses!

when we got back into town on thursday john and i went out to lunch with the babies to a new tex-mex place.

cameron LOVED the queso...

i honestly have no idea what we did on friday... oh, yes i do! we went to pick up all of lydia's school supplies and then my sister-in-law and niece came over to play. i had a migraine that day so i didn't even think to take any pictures and they were only in town for 48 hours so sadly i didn't get another chance :( it was great to visit with them though, i really miss them and wish we could see each other more often!

on saturday i went to a baby shower in chicago, so i was gone all day, and for the 1st time, john watched all 3 of the peaches for the entire day (with a little help from grampy of course). apparently things went very smoothly; although he did admit that he was exhausted by the end of the night. based on the pictures john took, it would appear that they went for a walk, rode the zebra & played on the new slide/swing/climbing toy that they peaches got for a birthday present.

and then yesterday the 6 of us headed to an open house for lydia at school, then we went out to breakfast with my parents and after a nap at home for the peaches we ran errands for the rest of the day. i cannot believe that we had the open house already, but since her first day of school (7th grade - gulp!) is coming up, i guess it makes some sense. she starts on the 20th of this month - really, already?!!? where did the summer go?

random new peachy things:

ella & james love to pretend they are on the phone. they hold the phone (or something that is shaped like a phone) up to their ear (well, in the general area of their ear) and "talk." today, ella even shared the phone and held it up to both cameron's and james' ears.

in fact, ella was very sweet this morning, she gave cameron a kiss on the top of her head while she was nursing instead of trying to push her out of the way so she could have her turn.

cameron plays the eensy weensy spider...it is so cute the way she moves her hands. i will have to get a video of it and post it alongside james' dance moves.

ella is an expert at climbing the stairs. and she has also figured out how to get back down. james & cameron are also quite fond of climbing the stairs, however getting back down still eludes them.

cameron also adores climbing up the slide on their new toy and she gets about halfway up and then slides right back down.

james loves baths in the big bathtub. the girls hate them and scream. but they scream in the baby bathtub now too so it doesn't matter much where we bathe them and since the big bathtub is more efficient...that is where they will have scream from now on.

cameron is getting more and more confident standing on her own and can do so for about 30 seconds now. she is even getting so brave as to start bouncing and there have been a few times i have caught her almost taking a step! ella can also stand on her own, but only for about 3-5 seconds and yesterday james took a couple of steps unassisted again!

Glad you got to spend a day out on your own!
I'm sure the NICU visit was emotional for you. I bet the nurses were SO happy to see your babies.

It's fun visiting the NICU again, isn't it?
Great updates. They are getting so big and I loved your comments on how they are interacting with toys and kisses. It is so much fun to watch and will stop me in my tracks everytime I hear all 3 of them laughing.
Keep the pictures coming! They are adorable. I love that you call them "the peaches." We call ours the "boogers." Yours is much more endearing. :)

Love the pics! The girls are getting such cute curly hair! I totally understand the busy weekend thing. I've been trying to blog about our weekend since Saturday. I find myself writing draft posts just to remind myself later what all we did!
The babies are getting so big... and standing/walking on their own... that's great! Keep up the great work Super Mom!

Life with trips sounds very hectic! Looks like fun, but I think for a first baby, I'm quite glad we only have one coming along. Maybe we'll leave the triplets till next time.... ;)
